CREATIVE PROCESS
My choreographic work has been produced at festivals and concerts internationally and throughout the country — from Los Angeles to New York City, Mexico to Jacksonville.
My choreographic practice is rooted in the belief that movement is language — a form of communication that exists in the body before it exists in words. I am drawn to work that investigates the relationship between structure and spontaneity, between the choreographer's intention and the dancer's interpretation.
Each work begins with a question. The process of making is the process of finding an answer — and sometimes, discovering that the question itself was wrong.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Rebecca Levy's choreographic work spans concert dance, site-specific performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her pieces have been commissioned and presented at festivals and institutions across the United States, Mexico, and internationally — work that is grounded in rigorous physical training and guided by a deep commitment to artistic inquiry.
Her choreography has been described as "thrumming with energy and vibrancy" (Folio Weekly) and is recognized for its ability to move between the intimate and the expansive — work that is technically demanding, visually striking, and emotionally present.
She is committed to creating dance that matters beyond the moment of performance.
Rebecca Levy's choreographic practice is rooted in a deep, abiding commitment to smart, inclusive ideas — work often marked by collaboration and risk-taking. Her pieces explore the complexities of the mind, feminism, bodily autonomy, and the forces that bring people together or drive them apart — blending humor, dance theater elements, and collaborations with visual artists, composers, and filmmakers.
